Quick answer

This ticket covers the show alone, so food and drinks are your own plan. Playa de las Américas is a purpose-built resort with bars, restaurants and attractions, and many beaches, shops and venues are within walking distance of each other. Eat before or after, arrive early for seats, and work out the journey home before the show finishes.

What the ticket covers

The ticket is entry to the show, at a length of two and a half hours, and it carries no food or drink. Everything else about the evening is your own plan. For many visitors the question is whether to eat before the show or after it, and the answer depends on children, hunger and how early you want to be in the queue for seats.

Wikipedia describes Playa de las Américas as a purpose-built holiday resort in the southern part of the Arona municipality, built in the 1960s a few miles from the fishing village of Los Cristianos. It lists bars, nightclubs, restaurants, attractions and beaches, and calls the resort a centre of nightlife in Tenerife. This guide names no restaurants, because menus, owners and opening hours change.

Eating before the show

Eating first puts a meal behind you and lets you arrive at the venue ready for a seat, which matters because some reviewers mention queues. It suits families, because children are fed before a late evening. The risk is a slow meal: allow time before the start shown on your voucher, and look at the time rather than the menu. A light meal early is easier than a long one close to the start.

Eating after the show

Eating afterwards suits adults who would rather arrive early for seats and then relax. With a show listed at two and a half hours, the evening can end late, so check which places in your area are open before you commit. Younger children may not manage a late dinner, so keep the plan flexible.

Walking, buses and taxis

Spring Hotels says that in Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos many beaches, shops and entertainment venues are within walking distance, and that taxis are widely available, with Uber and Cabify also operating on the island. TITSA buses link the main resorts. Choose the route home before the show ends, and have a second option ready in case the first is full.

Using the day around it

An evening show leaves the day free. Wikipedia lists five main beaches in Playa de las Américas and calls Playa de las Vistas a family-friendly, accessible beach with golden sand. A quiet afternoon, an early meal and a show is a workable shape for a day with children. The cards on the home page list daytime trips on the water for the hours before an evening out.

Three ways to shape the evening

Without naming any places, three plans work for most parties. A family can eat early, see the show and take a taxi home. A group of adults can arrive early for seats, watch the show and eat afterwards. A party that wants the beach first can spend the afternoon on the sand, eat at the resort and walk to the show. Pick the plan that matches the youngest and the least mobile member of the party, and check the start time on the voucher.

  • Early meal, the show, then a taxi home
  • Seats first, the show, then a late meal
  • Beach in the afternoon, an early meal, then a walk to the show

Who this isn't for

An evening built around this show is not ideal if you want a quiet dinner and an early night, since this ticket covers only the show and the resort is lively. It also suits visitors who are not based in the south poorly, because the getting-home plan gets longer. Anyone who prefers the night sky to an auditorium should look at the Teide trip instead.
